Tooling & Maintenance Manager

JOB RESPONSIBILITY 

Primary responsibilities for tooling department include technical support in the design and reliability of high cavitation moulding tools, processes and mouldings equipment. Maintain a high level of mechanical efficiency of all existing production equipment; developing and improving plant production techniques and processes through direction and supervision of design, construction, maintenance, and improvements. Manage and maintain proper documentation on blue prints and CAD files.

Primary responsible for maintenance department includes safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to support maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. Responsible for the implementation, communication, coordination and management of all matters related to Quality Management System (QMS) ISO process.

Tooling responsibilities:

  • Lead and provide mentorship to tool room technicians, maintenance technicians, mold makers and machinist.
  • Technical tooling support for the development of new products.
  • Coordinate mould and tooling projects to meet corporate requirements, capital and expense budgets, and timelines.
  • Review new parts and engineering changes for moulding and machine feasibility, and propose changes to part design where necessary to reduce tooling cost and minimize potential moulding problems together with Product Development Engineering Department (PDE).
  • Estimate cost and design time for all new tools and engineering changes.
  • Expand the capabilities of the design department to handle a wide range of mold and tooling design challenges.
  • Recommend measures to improve design department efficiency.
  • Oversee and implement design software file templates, standards and practices.
  • Adhere to proper inventory documentation of all tool shop materials.
  • Coordinate communication and work between PDE and Sales.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Act as liaison between the Sales and Production department to ensure that good quality production molds are available and to recommend when new molds to be made and/or when molds need replacement.
  • Maintain all machines and equipment in good conditions.
  • Preparation of Capital Expenditure (CE) and submission of proper closeout forms upon project completion.
  • Responsible in generating strategic plan to improve mould machine performance.
  • Establish annual expense budget for moulds. Machines and tool room equipment.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Management from time to time.

Maintenance responsibilities:

  • Initiate, implement, and manage plant preventive maintenance program with an emphasis on preventive/predictive maintenance plan/schedule.
  • Control and monitor inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment.
  • Manage and safe keep records of spare parts and maintenance history of plant equipment.
  • Generate reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Supervise plant maintenance personnel.
  • Managing maintenance program to be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
  • Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Management from time to time.

AUTHORIZATION: 

  • CNC and EDM machines operating
  • Decision making for mould retire and/or obsolete

EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Degree in Engineering
  • 5 years’ experience in maintenance management

KNOWLEDGE LEVEL:

  • Technical support in the design and reliability of high cavitation moulding tools, processes and mouldings equipment.
  • Maintain a high level of mechanical efficiency of all existing production equipment; developing and improving plant production techniques and processes through direction and supervision of design, construction, maintenance, and improvements.
